How it works

From file to printed sheet in four steps

1

Open the file

Drop a DWG or DXF into the frame, or click Open. Large floor plans, with tens of thousands of objects, open in a few seconds. No file at hand? Try the sample apartment.

2

Keep only the layers you need

In the Layer tab turn off furniture, hatches and text that get in the way. The drawing reads better and measurements snap only to what you see.

3

Measure and dimension

Click two points: the measurement snaps by itself to corners, midpoints, centers and intersections. With Area you click around a room and read the square meters. With Dimension the measurement stays drawn and is still there when you save.

4

Fix, save, print

Select a line and type the right length, or a rectangle and give it width and height. Then save as DWG or DXF, or print a PDF in A4, A3 or A2 at the scale you need.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The DWG opens inside the browser, on your computer: the page does not send it to any server, ours included. If you want to check, open the browser's developer tools on the Network tab while you open a file: nothing gets sent.

Which DWG files can it open?

DWG files from version 2000 up to today's, that is the 2018 format AutoCAD has used since release 2018, and text DXF files. Before publishing the page we tested it on 27 real drawings, up to floor plans with 24,000 objects and 189 layers. Unusual objects, such as dynamic blocks or objects made in Civil 3D and Revit, may show up simplified.

Can I edit the drawing and save it as DWG?

Yes. Select a line and type the new length, change the radius of a circle or the width and height of a rectangle, move, copy, erase, add lines, text and dimensions. Then save as DWG, in the same version as the file you opened, or as DXF. Objects you do not touch stay as they were.

How do I print a DWG to scale?

Open the Print tab and pick sheet, orientation and scale. The sheet outline appears on the drawing: pan and zoom until what you need is inside, then download the PDF. Lines stay vector and the sheets are real ones, A4, A3 and A2.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free and you do not need an account. At the bottom of every PDF there is a line saying the sheet was printed with Lommo, with the page address: that is how we get known.

Does it work on Mac, tablet and phone?

Yes, in any recent browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, Brave. On a phone you open, pan, zoom and measure with your finger. For drawing and editing a mouse works better.

What do you use to read and write DWG files?

acadrust, a free library written in Rust under the MPL 2.0 license, which runs in the browser as a separate program (license and sources, in Italian). For the few DWG files acadrust cannot read, LibreDWG from the GNU project steps in, under the GPL 3 license (license and sources, in Italian).
