Partition wall thickness FREE
Work out the thickness of a partition wall by type of brick or board. Below the result you find the formula and the standard.
Formula, example and standard
Hollow bricks 8-12 cm + plaster 1.5 cm/side
Example with the starting values (Type: Hollow clay brick): Thickness: 8-12 cm (typical). Weight ≈ 80-110 kg/m² · modest sound insulation.
- A partition wall is non-structural, but it counts as a permanent load in structural calculations.
- Drywall: fast, light, good acoustics, sensitive to moisture (not for bathrooms).
- Hollow brick: traditional and sturdy, but heavier (more load on the floors).
